A Great Ride!

The first annual Skatelife GranFondo is in the books!
Thank you to all of our riders- it was a great adventure.
Thank you as well to all our sponsors & donors! At this year's event we raised $5000 to help Skatelife reach young people across Canada this summer!
A big thanks to Adam Trodder for his great help as our support driver in the VOS.
Thank you also to Rockridge Canyon for the awesome accommodations.
Here are some pics from the event... Enjoy!

Two more sleeps till the Skatelife GranFondo!

It's not quite Christmas eve, but the excitement is building for this weekend's SLGF. All the arrangements are made & we are good to go.
Thank you to everyone raising $ for the event- so far we have pledged or raised $5000!

Also, a big thanks to our coffee sponsor for the event. North Vancouver's Cafe for Contemporary Art is providing us with enough coffee to keep us jacked up for the ride.
Next time you find yourself in North Van around the bottom of Lonsdale, pop in for a good cup of coffee (138-140 East Esplanade North Van). Or, check them out online here.

Stuff to bring...
Attention riders, here are some items to bring along to help your ride go smooth.
*Snacks / drinks for our rider stops along the way. Our Van of Shame will be filled with all kinds of food & drinks for you to have, but if you prefer something specific you can put it in the van to take en route.
*Spare parts just in case. It's handy to bring spare tubes, tires, etc in case you run into a mechanical problem along the way. Again, in the van we will have basic tools & some spare parts to help you out as well.
*Clothes to match the conditions. As of this afternoon, here is the Environment Canada forecast for this weekend.

We are assuming that the forecast will change to be hot & sunny for us, but in any case, bring cycling clothes that can keep you comfortable regardless of weather.

Looking forward to a great ride together! See you soon.

SL GranFondo. Day 2 ride, June 19

Day 2 of the SL GranFondo is generally a shorter & easier ride. Our slow ascent from Keremeos to Princeton day 1 turns into a gradual descent along the Old Hedley road beside the river. From Keremeos to the Oliver junction is the most difficult portion of the ride, including a a Cat 3 climb. Then its all down hill to the finish back in Penticton!

In case you don't have an account with Map My Ride, here is some detail about day 1 of the SLGF, June 18.
The route leaves from Penticton along the east side of Skaha Lake. We'll make our way down to Osoyoos through Oliver riding a mix of the Hwy 97 & backroads. This stage of the ride will be a great warm up as the route gradually descends to Osooyos.
Coming out of Osoyoos is our most challenging climb- a long ascent that is largely cat 3. From there we coast into Keremeos, and finish with a gradual ascent to Princeton.
